Brisbane, Queensland, Australia is the perfect place to head to if you’re tired of your current cold climate and want to escape to something a bit hotter. And, if you haven’t really got the funds to afford such an adventure, then that’s fine. Yes, there plenty of things to do in Brisbane that won’t break your bank; to see some of these things, make sure to read on.
STAY IN A HOSTEL
Now, you could book boutique hotels in Brisbane and enjoy the elegance of fine accommodation, or you could go for a cheaper option and stay in a hostel. Either way, you’re going to be able to enjoy the capital of Queensland. So, don’t get too hung up on where you lay your head at night!
TAKE A DIP AT STREETS BEACH
Streets Beach is man-made beach located in the South Bank area of Brisbane — and, of course, it can be accessed for free! This is a massive lagoon that is perfect for those who find themselves needing a dip in cold water when they are slap bang in the middle of the city. Just be aware that this is a place that is always full of tourists, especially in the Aussie summertime!
CATCH A BOAT RIDE ON THE CITYHOPPER
All aboard! The CityHopper is a little red vessel that travels between the Sydney Street terminal and North Quay in the Central Business District, allowing those that ride on it (for free) a chance to see the delights of Brisbane from a river view.
HAVE A LAUGH AT THE POWERHOUSE
The Brisbane Powerhouse is a place that you should head to if you are particularly keen on comedy. And, if you’re looking to save some spending whilst you do so then make sure to head there on a Friday evening. When you do so (at 6pm, to be exact) you will be able to make full use of the Knockoff happy hour which will grant you free entry into the club. This initiative returns on 2nd March, 2018, so make sure to bare that in mind!
HEAD UP CITY HALL’S CLOCK TOWER
The Brisbane City Hall is one of the city’s only heritage-listed buildings, and that means you know a visit there is going to enrich you both in the culture and history of this corner of Down Under. What’s more, a (free) journey up the Hall’s famous clock tower is going to enrich you due to the fact that you’ll be able to get about as good a view of Brisbane up there as you are anywhere else in the city.
EXPLORE THE QUEENSLAND MUSEUM
If you’re a traveller that loves to learn as much about the areas that you travel to as you can, then when you travel to Brisbane you simply have to explore the Queensland Museum. In there you can learn all about this part of the world as well as the natural world in general. And, you’ll be pleased to know, general admission to this museum is free!
